A marriage made in corruption: The Mitch and Elaine story

Liberal News

The deputy press secretary for the Department of Transportation has emailed Daily Kos in response to Monday’s story reporting on Politico’s exposé of the direct line Kentucky officials have to Secretary Elaine Chao through Moscow Mitch McConnell’s office. In the first 14 months of the Trump administration alone, one fourth of all her appointments were with Kentuckians.

The response from the U.S. DOT spokesperson says “In nearly three years transportation blogger Tanya Snyder has written more misleading articles focused on the Secretary’s calendar than on infrastructure or the safety technology that is the future of transportation—and that’s sad.” Yes, they actually use the Trumpian “sad.” Snyder is actually a reporter, not that there is anything wrong with being a blogger.

The statement goes on to say that the reporting is based on “a few outdated and incomplete calendars provided by dark money, partisan political groups.” The records were obtained by Politico under the Freedom of Information Act. The statement concludes “No new information is presented in these repetitive attacks on the work of the Department, and our work will continue regardless.”

Meanwhile, McConnell’s campaign team isn’t contesting the facts of the article. In fact, they’re tweeting it out. It would seem that they’re proud of what sure appears to be some corruption being conducted by the happy couple.

Awkward for the Department of Transportation! One wonders if Mitch and Elaine talk to each other over breakfast.

Please give $1 to our nominee fund to help Democrats and end McConnell’s career as majority leader.
