Democrats Admit Trump Helped GOP Candidates Sweep North Carolina Special Elections

Conservative News

President Trump, as he often does, took credit on Twitter for something happening.

In this case, it was the special election wins in North Carolina on Tuesday. GOP state Sen. Dan Bishop narrowly won the 9th District House seat and Greg Murphy stomped to victory in the solid Republican 3rd District. In both races, Democrats poured in millions of dollars to try to defeat the GOP candidates.

“Dan Bishop was down 17 points 3 weeks ago. He then asked me for help, we changed his strategy together, and he ran a great race. Big Rally last night. Now it looks like he is going to win.
@CNN & @MSNBC are moving their big studio equipment and talent out. Stay tuned!” Trump wrote on Twitter as the returns came in.

“Greg Murphy won big, 62% to 37%, in North Carolina 03, & the Fake News barely covered the race. The win was far bigger than anticipated – there was just nothing the Fakers could say to diminish or demean the scope of this victory. So we had TWO BIG VICTORIES tonight, Greg & Dan!” he wrote as the night wore on.

The wins precluded the typical stories that would have appeared if the GOP lost: Republican Party in disarray after stunning losses leading into 2020!!! But on the other hand, Trump won the 9th District by 12 percentage points in 2016 and Mitt Romney won it by 10.

Still, Trump did have an effect — and even some Democrats were forced to admit it.

“Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairwoman Cheri Bustos acknowledged that the president contributed to Bishop’s win, writing in a statement, ‘We fell an inch short tonight, but it took more than $6 million in outside Republican spending and a last-minute Trump rally’ to seal Democratic candidate Dan McCready’s fate in the 9th District,” Fox News reported.

Trump’s rally in Fayetteville, N.C., on Monday night brought out the base. And the president was in rare form that night, too.

“To stop the far-left, you must vote in tomorrow’s special election,” Trump told supporters as he ripped Democratic candidate Dan McCready as a dangerous proponent of “sanctuary cities” and an opponent of the Second Amendment.
