Utah Senator Mitt Romney is very sad about neoconservative John Bolton getting canned from his role as President Donald Trump’s national security adviser.
The Never-Trump globalist told reporters that he’s “very unhappy” with the news.
“His view was not always the same as everybody else in the room. That’s why you wanted him there. The fact that he was a contrarian from time to time is an asset not a liability,” Romney told reporters. “I’m very very unhappy to hear that he’s leaving. It is a huge loss for the administration in my opinion and for the nation.”
President Trump had tweeted out the news earlier on Tuesday.
“I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration,” Trump tweeted.
Romney is no fan of the president or the America First agenda.
In August, Romney co-sponsored legislation that will prevent President Trump from diverting federal funds towards border wall construction.
