Breaking news: Republicans may face trouble branding themselves as the 'party of health care'
Today in headlines that make you go, “Well, uh, yeah”: “GOP faces tough battle to become ‘party of health care.'”
But Donald Trump tweeted that the Republicans would become the “party of health care,” so they’re kind of stuck with the pretense, and the jokes. This while two recent polls show more than 55 percent of voters going with Democrats on health care—an issue that Democrats focused heavily on in the wave year of 2018.
Republicans are resting their hopes of gaining the upper hand on demonizing Medicare for all, but they’re not exactly starting from a position of strength. Because voters have had plenty of opportunity over the past two years to see that Republicans want to take their healthcare coverage and protections away.
