DEVELOPING: Paul Manafort Faces First Round of Sentencing
President Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday afternoon in a criminal trial stemming from Mueller’s Russia witch hunt.
Manafort, who will turn 70 years old next month, is facing 19.5 to 24.5 years in prison in the Alexandria, Virginia case where he was convicted on 8 felony counts of bank and tax fraud.
Manafort’s lawyers asked Judge T.S. Ellis for a lenient sentence given Manafort’s age, ill health and cooperation with Mueller.
The Hill reported:
Defense attorneys wrote in a sentencing memo to Ellis that Manafort is truly remorseful for his conduct and has accepted responsibility for his actions. He was convicted in August of eight criminal charges – five counts of filing false tax returns, two counts of bank fraud and one count of failing to report foreign bank accounts – at a federal district court in Virginia.
They also noted Manafort admitted he was guilty of the other 10 charges that resulted in a hung jury and that he agreed to cooperate with Mueller’s investigation as part of a plea deal to avoid another trial on separate charges in the District of Columbia.
Robert Mueller, the evil special counsel who is hunting down Trump and his associates for the ‘crime’ of keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House, wants Paul Manafort to die in prison.
A couple weeks ago, Mueller released his redacted sentencing memo on Paul Manafort in the Washington D.C. case where Manafort was on trial for his Ukrainian lobbying.
Mueller accused Manafort of “repeatedly and brazenly” breaking the law — recall, Mueller gave Tony Podesta immunity in this case even though just like Manafort, he failed to file a FARA form in a timely manner.
Mueller also accused Manafort in engaging in witness tampering while on bail, perjuring himself and making false statements.
Corrupt Obama-appointed Judge Amy Berman Jackson is assigned to Paul Manafort’s DC case where he was charged with two felony counts and will be sentenced next week by Jackson.
Mueller did not disclose how many years he recommended Manafort serve in the DC case, however, under the law Manafort faces 10 years maximum for two felony counts.
Judges typically give a more lenient sentence to people over the age of 60 so we will see what Judge TS Ellis and Jackson do to show mercy to Paul Manafort given that he is almost 70 years old and in poor health.
President Trump has stated many times that a pardon for Paul Manafort is on the table, but the Deep State is already prepared with a counter-punch in case of a presidential pardon.
The Communist prosecutors out of the SDNY have prepared tax evasion charges against Paul Manafort just in case Trump pardons him.
