Open enrollment in Obamacare starts Thursday—vote with your sign-up!
Get America Covered, the coalition of groups that helped make the 2018 plan year for the Affordable Care Act a success despite all of Trump’s sabotage, is back in gear to get people who are eligible enrolled for 2019.
And here’s their message, from an emailed statement: “The number one thing people need to know is that if you need health coverage, now is the time to sign up,” said Joshua Peck, co-founder of Get America Covered. “Getting covered is easy, and plans are likely a lot more affordable than people think. Last year, 8 out of 10 people found plans for less than $75 thanks to financial help. These are plans that normally cost people hundreds of dollars but because of financial help become much more affordable.”
There is a catch, as Peck points out: “you have to sign up before December 15.” Last year, despite all of Trump’s efforts, almost 12 million people got covered under the ACA and found very good deals. Those deals exist this year, too. Eight out of 10 people who apply will qualify for financial help that can lower their monthly premiums to between $50 and $100.
If you or someone you love needs health insurance, now’s your chance. You’ve got six weeks to get it done and give a virtual finger to Trump, one that will hurt almost as much as your vote for Democrats.
