State attorney general describes ‘tough call’ after 22-year-old was shot in his grandmother’s backyard

The California attorney general has announced he will not file criminal charges in the death of Stephon Clark, the unarmed 22-year-old who was gunned down in his grandmother’s backyard by police last March.

Opening his announcement by thanking Clark’s family, Xavier Becerra said on Tuesday that an independent department of justice investigation had found no criminal charges could be sustained.
